This class is reserved for those students who attended
Casting Lots 1 and 2.
We will have a quick review of the materials covered in the last class
such as building a home shrine for the ancestors and pouring libations.
Please review your notes.
Then we will move forward into the mechanics of divination
systems of Darle Coco (coconut pieces) and with four cowries.
This will include learning to recite the prayers and
preparing the four pieces of coconut for the first casting.
This is a hand-on class that begins with a videotape of the process wherein Yeye demonstrates how to speak directly with the ancestors through these divination systems. Participants will learn how to identify the Odus, interpret the messages in the Odu and how to fulfill the rituals prescribed by the oracle.
A demonstration of knowledge is required, and participants are invited/expected to attend the Ritual of Remembrance and Praise-singing for Ile Orunmila Oshun in Oakland, CA on April 5-7. 2019.
